Tips To Keep You And Your Family Healthier This Fall
1. Keep Your Gut Happy
The majority of our immune system is in our gut so make sure to nourish your body the right way, with plenty of veggies and fermented foods. You also want to limit any sugary foods to keep your immune system functioning at its best.
2. Move Daily
Get outside daily to walk, bike, or whatever activity you enjoy doing. With the cooler weather this is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature around you. Staying active will give your immune system a nice boost along with all the other health benefits that come along with exercise.
3. Eat Seasonally, Shop locally
When you eat with the seasons you’re feeding your body a wide variety of foods and nourishing it with foods that are at their peak nutritionally. Take a trip to your local farmers market and check out the seasons best foods like pumpkin, squashes, and brussels sprouts.
4. Stay Hydrated
With the cooler weather we often don’t feel as thirsty as during the warmer summer months. It’s important to drink plenty of water to keep your body functioning properly. Water helps transport nutrients, keeps your bowels moving, lubricates your joints and gives you energy.
5. De-Stress
When you’re a giant ball of stress, it’s easier for your body to catch whatever germ or bug is going around. Exercise is a great way to de-stress as is breathing exercises. Sit in a nice quiet place, close your eyes and take a deep breath in. Hold it for a count of four then slowly let it out. Do this maybe two or three times a day to help calm and relax you.
6. Get A Good Night’s Sleep
Maybe you’ve heard the expression “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” but this is no way to live your life. Your body needs at least 7-8 hours of good sleep every night. This is the time your body naturally detoxifies, rests and restores itself. If you’re skimping on sleep your’e increasing your susceptibility to illness.
7. Wash Your Hands
I cannot stress this one enough. Skip the antibacterial soaps and sanitizers and go for good ol’ soap and water. This one act alone will do so much!
8. Use Essential Oils
Did you really think I wouldn’t mention oils? I’m a huge advocate for using Essential Oils in your daily routine to help calm, relax, de-stress, and boost your immune system just to name a few. They have changed my life! If you’d like to know what oils I use and recommend, contact me.
